Verint Systems Inc., a provider of analytic software-based solutions for security and business intelligence, recently announced that a major U.S. port has deployed its Nextiva™ Critical Infrastructure (CI) solution to enhance security of its waterways and land-based facilities.
The port is comprised of a large expanse of open water, sea channels and diversified facilities and is a high-traffic environment where foreign tonnage is offloaded to thousands of vessels for distribution across the country. Nextiva CI will enhance the security of the port’s distributed land-based facilities and open waterways for a more proactive approach to threat prevention and emergency response.
“Nextiva CI is well suited to meet the challenges of the world’s largest seaports, with its wireless and wireline edge devices that network video across expansive land and sea perimeters and award-winning analytics to proactively protect sensitive facilities and cargo,” said Dan Bodner, president and CEO of Verint Systems Inc.
Nextiva CI collects and analyzes video at the point of capture across the port facility and combines this video with access control and other enterprise data for a more comprehensive view of port activities. In the event of an emergency, Nextiva CI distributes alarms, alerts and associated video to key security command posts and the port’s centralized monitoring station, as well as to multiple law enforcement and government agencies that collaborate to ensure port security.
The number of choices, vendors, and types of solutions is exploding. Large numbers of alternatives are normally an advantage to the buyer, but it can add much confusion when trying to make the right choice.
Business is all about managing risk, and risk management comes down to making solid business decisions to avoid and mitigate potential threats, including natural disasters.
