It must be late March or early April because ISC West is right around the corner. If you haven’t registered or make plans to attend, you’re about the only security professional not attending. It’s not too late to register and attend.
First of all, this annual industry tradeshow is going green. Everyone is going green these days and that includes ISC West. Tradeshow officials are committed to a reduce, reuse approach to planning and producing a show. Recycling waste, trash and other paper products and using recycled products are just a few of the steps taken toward a green tradeshow experience.
It used to be that the Service Manual used during the show would be a print product. No longer, and in fact, it is available in a Web-based format, conserving more than 150,000 pieces of paper previously used in a 3-ring binder.
Here’s a few helpful ideas to be kind to the environment.
Practice green purchasing when ever possible by specifying environmentally preferable products. These products or services contain recycled content, minimize waste, conserve energy or water, and reduce the amount of toxics disposed or consumed.
Reduce packing material by using recyclable materials. Take advantage of the convention center’s recycling options for packaging.
Donate extra amenities or promotional products to local charities rather than shipping them back or tossing them in the trash.
We can all take a little bit better care of the earth, and at the same time protect the security of its citizens. Look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas at ISC West. Feel free to stop me as I canvas the show floor, and let’s talk about your newest technology.
