NBFAA Forms Political Action Committee

April 7, 2008

The National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association has formed a political action committee to support U.S. congressional candidates who are advocates of issues and legislation for the electronic life safety and security industry.

“PACs allow organizations to find candidates that have a real interest in seeing companies and industries succeed,” said George Gunning, NBFAA president. “The NBFAA PAC will enhance our federal government relations goals and assist us in supporting our congressional friends.”

“PACs are an invaluable resource for associations and their member companies to facilitate contributions to U.S. congressional candidates in both House and Senate races,” said John Chwat, government relations director of NBFAA. “The legal minefield one must navigate to give directly to a candidate is confusing at best, and PACs avoid the possible problems inherent in companies trying to manage individual contributions.”

NBFAA will begin soliciting PAC contributions this year directly from member companies, according to federal rules and regulations.
