Videofied Outdoor Camera/Sensor Designed To Protect Against Copper Theft

April 30, 2008

Videofied security moves outdoors with a new solution to copper theft, which the Dept. of Energy says is now a $1 billion problem and growing.

RSI Video Technologies developed the Videofied outdoor camera/sensor to protect construction sites, rooftop A/C units, empty buildings and remote infrastructure.

The camera is IP65weatherproof rated and operates from -20F to +140F. When an intruder trips the motion sensor, the integrated night vision camera takes a 10 second video and sends it over the cell network to the monitoring station that immediately sees what is happening and dispatches police.

The camera/sensor can be placed anywhere up to 2,000 feet from the communicator -- the entire system is battery powered. With up to 24 cameras in a single system, one set of batteries will last for months in harsh environments.

The communicator transmits the alarm and video over the GSM cell network and the video can also be e-mailed or sent to a cell phone for review by a site manager. Videofied is protecting cell towers, electrical substations, remote facilities, and storage trailers. The basic system with two outdoor cameras is priced under $3,000.
